I'm new to leading people.
Leading people is a different job from doing the work, and most people get little preparation for it.
Does this sound familiar?
- Everything feels urgent, and it is hard to decide what deserves your time first.
- Delegating feels slower or riskier than doing the work yourself, so your workload keeps growing.
- You run the work well, but you have had little chance to think about the kind of leader you want to be.
- You want people to follow because they trust you, not only because of your job title.
What is it costing you?
Leading people asks for different habits from doing the work yourself. Without them, a new leader holds on to too much, the workload keeps growing and the team waits. How you manage your own time sets the limit for everyone who depends on you.

But there is a problem with training.
A good session alone is not the same as a lasting change. Here is what the research says.
Many trained competencies reportedly fail to transfer to the workplace.
Memory fades in the days after we learn something, a pattern first described in 1885 and replicated in 2015.
